In the early 1970s, few couples embodied Hollywood glamour quite like Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw. One iconic photograph taken on the set of Papillon in Jamaica captured them basking in the sun — stylish, magnetic, and seemingly inseparable. At the time, it looked like a simple snapshot of two stars enjoying life. In hindsight, it symbolized the beginning of one of Hollywood’s most talked-about love stories.
Interestingly, MacGraw wasn’t part of Papillon at all. She was visiting the set after recently meeting McQueen — and the chemistry between them was instant.
